School Mobbing and Emotional AbuseSchool Mobbing & Emotional Abuse

Join author Gail Pursell Elliott on April 20th, learn more about the process of emotional abuse called Mobbing that can result in such outcomes as bullying and school violence.

Mobbing affects the whole school and community environment. Adults who are unaware of mobbing can also participate, setting unintentional examples for students. Mobbing can result in loss of self-esteem, anxiety, and reduced student performance.

Insight and awareness are the key elements to stopping this type of behavior. Students and adults alike then can make personal decisions to stop.

Rules, regulations, laws and policies do not change attitudes. These are personal decisions that people must make for themselves.

Dignity and Respect are big buzzwords these days but few understand the essence of what these terms really mean.

Ilene DillonNational Hate Week – (4-16)  by Ilene Dillon

Hate results from holding anger inside, over time.  It does more harm to the “vessel” (the person holding onto the anger and hate) than to anyone.  Because so many people follow the practice of holding onto anger over years of time, a lot of us have hate inside—and it does feel good to let it out without apology (and without dumping it on others).  However, in the long run, both held-onto anger, and the hate it engenders, destroys lives.  It can destroy mental and emotional functioning, self esteem, relationships and health.

Program Information: What causes us stress? We could make a laundry list of all the external factors: too many responsibilities; too many people depending on us; deadlines; delays; misunderstandings; health problems; worries about our children, safety, finances, past mistakes, what the future holds. Sometimes we can feel as if we’re caught in a hurricane.  But at the center of every hurricane there is something called the eye.  In the eye, all is peaceful and calm. The sun is shining. We can see clearly.

  • Determine what causes you stress and why it does.
  • Move along with the storm when you cannot control it.
  • Make adjustments where you can.
  • Discover where your true worth and value lie.
  • Use your insight and awareness to maintain perspective.
